Opelousas police recently made an arrest in a shooting over the weekend.

19 year old Roderick Smith Jr. of Opelousas was booked Monday on charges of attempted 2^nd degree murder & possession of schedule I narcoitcs (marijuana). 

Smith was booked into the St Landry Parish Jail with no bond.

The victim, police say, is in stable condition. 

UPDATE:  A man was shot in the chest in Opelousas on Saturday night.    

According to police, officers responded to a gunshot victim complaint at a local hospital and after interviewing him learned that the incident occurred in the 800 block of S. Academy Street. 

The victim is in stable condition at this time, according to police.   

Police are still investigating and say there are no known suspects at this time.

ORIGINAL: Police are on the scene of a shooting Saturday in Opelousas.

Public Information Officer Krystal Leblanc says one victim was shot in the chest and is currently listed in stable condition.

Leblanc did not say when or where the shooting occurred.
