Crowley Police Department have made an arrest just over 24 hours after a “road rage” incident occurred on the Exit 82 westbound off-ramp.
Authorities were able to obtain information on the suspect’s vehicle, which lead them to arrest Byron DePaul Francis, Jr. age 20, of Michot Lane in Crowley.
License information given by statements from the public led police to discover Francis’ vehicle at his residence on Michot Lane. With assistance from the Acadia Parish Sheriff Department, investigators and deputies went to the residence, and Francis fit the description given of the alleged shooter. Police say further evidence was obtained which identified Francis as the shooter.
Francis was booked on one count of Second Degree Homicide, and then transported to the Acadia Parish Jail where he is awaiting bond.
Chief Jimmy Broussard stated, “Once again, the assistance of the public was paramount in the quick solution to this tragic event. Through statements and information, and collaboration with not only the Acadia Parish Sheriff Department but also local Acadiana businesses, we were able to make a solid arrest in just hours after the homicide. I applaud our community and our fellow law enforcement officers for working so diligently together to protect and defend our community.”
Crowley Police are also looking for a second subject that was in the vehicle with Francis at the time of the Homicide. Anyone with information regarding the second person is asked to call Crowley Police Investigation Division at 788-4114.
