Two arrested after New Iberia was teen fatally shot

UPDATE: Police have made an arrest in the New Iberia overnight shooting that claimed the life of a teenager.

According to the New Iberia Police Department’s Facebook page —19 year-old Jeyohn Augustine was arrested on a charge first degree murder.
Police say the investigation tied Joshua Markell James to a shooting that occurred in December on Walton street.
The post says James was arrested on a charge of conspiracy to commit murder and attempted second degree murder.

UPDATE: Family and friends have identified the teen as Devon Sutton. They say his 16th birthday was this week.

NEW IBERIA, La. (KLFY)- A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed in an early morning shooting on St. Jude Street in New Iberia, police said.

Officer received the call just before 2:40 a.m. this morning. The teen later died at a local hospital.

His identity has not yet been released. The investigation is still ongoing.
