Also happening today in Acadiana, the start of the annual Jubilee of the Word marathon. The 5-day event is hosted by Fȇte-Dieu du Teche and will feature a marathon reading of the Holy Bible from cover to cover in the St. Martinville town square.
It begins later today at 12:30pm and will run 24 hours a day all the way until this Sunday at 4:30pm. This is the third year in a row that the bible will be read non-stop in front of the Diocese of Lafayette’s oldest church parish, St. Martin de Tours.
Father Michael Champagne says the Jubilee serves as a reminder for how important scripture is to the lives of Catholics.
