Suspect charged with hate crimes, terrorizing after allegedly threatening Crowley PD

CROWLEY, La. (KLFY)- A 41-year-old Crowley man is facing hate crime and terrorizing charges for allegedly threatening Crowley Police officers on social media.

On October 15, 2018, Jeremy Boddye Sr. was arrested on a warrant for the threats that reportedly stemmed from previous “encounter that he had with officers over the weekend, which lead to Boddye being taken into custody.”

After he was released from jail, Boddye was reportedly “displeased with the turn out” and posted numerous times on social media, “threatening officers security, jobs, and even lives”, the Crowley Police Department said today.

One of the posts included a photograph of an AR-15 with the caption “Bullet with your name on it” and said he was at the “Crowley Police Department”, authorities said.

Boddye reportedly then revoked the latter end of his post and stated he was at the “City of Crowley”.

“Numerous calls had been received about his post, mainly from concerned citizens of Crowley and surrounding areas.  Because they felt Boddye could be a threat for the International Rice Festival that is to be held this upcoming weekend,” the department said.

All body and dash camera footage from officers’ previous encounter with Boddye was reviewed by administration and judges, and it was stated that officers were complete justified in their actions, the department said today.

Boddye was taken to Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office where he is held on a $50,000 bond.

“I will not stand by and let a person threaten the safety of our citizens, and officers,” said Crowley Chief Jimmy Broussard stated, “This was brought to my attention and something was done about it immediately. In this day and time, you do not know if someone is serious when they post things of this nature but I was not going to sit by, and watch it happen, knowing he has made these threats.”
