A huge storm system came through the samll town of Bayou Jack in St. Landry Parish earlier today producing a tornado.  News Tens Emily Giangreco spoke with residents to find out how much damage was done.

BAYOU JACK, La. (KLFY) – The storm system that came through the area Saturday produced a tornado in St. Landry Parish.

“I was waking up and by the time i got out here it was gone so there wasn’t really time to think for us,” said resident Claude Savage

The tornado didn’t last long but there was still significant damage done.

“Pulling in the driveway is quite a site, said Sheryl Deshotel, “There’s this shed, a drop-off shed that was behind our barn, which is behind our house, and thank god whenever the tornado picked it up and brought it over the barn and over our house and dropped it in our front yard and it missed our house completely.”

Even though damage was done residents are trying to look at on the bright side.

“That’s nothing compared to what it could have been,” said Savage, “it could have been a lot worse.”

“It’s going to all be okay, said Deshotel, “We can replace anything that was damaged.”

So far no fatalities have been reported.
