OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) – A suspect has been arrested after a shooting near Mama’s Fried Chicken Sunday.
Nicholas Sam, 30, of Washington, was arrested and charged after a shooting incident near Mama’s Restaurant on E. Landry St. in Opelousas.
Sam was charged with three counts attempted second degree murder and illegal possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies.
Another individual, Joseph Dugas, has a warrant for his arrest in connection to the shooting and is being charged with three counts illegal use of a weapon or dangerous instrumentalities and illegal possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies.
According to police, Sam, an employee of Mama’s Fried Chicken, left the building and fired shots at Dugas’ vehicle and he was leaving the restaurant. This was after an altercation that occurred between a female employee of Mama’s and a female passenger in Dugas’s vehicle.
Dugas shot back towards the restaurant, hitting Mama’s Fried Chicken several times. The two females involved are being charged with disturbing the peace by fighting.
