Robideaux calls for temporary suspension of scooters

LAFAYETTE La. (KLFY) -Scooters may be leaving the streets (and sidewalks) of Lafayette, at least temporarily.

Lafayette City-Mayor President Joel Robideaux has requested both Lime and Bird to hold a joint press conference announcing “plans to work together by implementing a temporary suspension”, until a state law can be changed.

In his letter, Robideaux said local officials met with Department of Transportation determined the city “could not legally accommodate the scooters given the current state law.”

Robideaux has requested responses from both companies by noon today.
