Resolution to provide free Lafayette city bus service pulled from tonight’s agenda

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)- A resolution to offer free bus rides in the city of Lafayette on election says has been withdrawn from tonight’s agenda.

Lafayette Councilman Bruce Conque said his decision to pull the resolution came after advice he received from Attorney General Jeff Landry on the whether the free bus service was legal.

The proposal drew criticism, including allegations of electioneering. Michael Lundsford, who adminsitrates Lafayette Citizens Against Taxes, claimed the proposal was unfair because bus service is only provided in the city, not the entire parish.
