Gene Walters, Owner of Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery and Walters Funeral Home, says, “As a veteran myself, I feel honored to be able to have this at my services– at my funeral home and so it works out. I have a great love for veterans and the service that they’ve done.”
Greenlawn Memorial Gardens held their 54th annual Memorial Day Ceremony here at Walters Funeral Home. Plenty of Veterans were in attendance and participating all to honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for us.
Among the many veterans groups present including the American Legion of Lafayette and the Marine Corps League, the keynote speaker was John Crow. A retired army veteran, he speaks about Memorial Day being one of his favorite days.
Crow says, “Well it’s one of my, as a retired service member, one of my two favorite and most moving days of the year.”
God Bless America was sung during the ceremony and a twenty-one gun salute marked the conclusion.
“We remember our brothers who fell in service of the nation,” Crow adds.
