Three burglaries following business transactions at local banks have been reported in Louisiana Tuesday.

Lake Charles police say they have seen a rinse in a process called “jugging.”

Jugging is when burglars watch local banks for customers who enter the bank empty-handed, and then come out with a bank bag or envelope, according to Sgt. J Keenum.

He says they follow the customer’s vehicle in the hopes that the customer stops somewhere and leaves the bank bag or envelope in their vehicle.

When that happens, he say,  the suspects break into the vehicle and steal the bag or envelope.

Keenum said that a jugging incident was reported Tuesday in Lake Charles around 10:30 a.m. in the 900 block of Third Avenue. Two more were reported in Sulphur.

All are believed to be related, Keenum said.
