NEW ORLEANS, La. (KLFY) The man killed in Sunday’s Bourbon Street mass shooting has been identified as Demontris Toliver, a 25-year-old tattoo artist who lived and worked in Baton Rouge.

According to WWL TV, Toliver was in town to celebrate his birthday and the Bayou Classic.

During a press conference Sunday, NOLA Mayor Mitch Landrieu said Toliver was a New Orleans native.

He is the lone fatality as of Sunday evening in the mass shooting that wounded nine other people.

The shooting occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 27 in the 100 block of Bourbon Street.

New Orleans Police say the nine survivors including 3 victims from Lafayette, 1 from Eunice, 2 from New Orleans, and one each from Baton Rouge, Mississippi and Zachary.  Police say they all ranged in age from 20-to-37 years old.

The families of two victims who live in the area confirmed with KLFY that 20 year old Brittany Ben of Lafayette was shot three times in the chest area, and twice in her arm.

They say 21 year old Deion Ben was shot once in the groin and that the bullet rested in his pelvic area.

Family members say Brittany Ben was released from the hospital in NOLA early Sunday morning and has since been admitted to a hospital in Lafayette where she will undergo surgery Monday morning to remove two bullets.

Deion Ben remains in a NOLA hospital with internal bleeding.

Two arrests were made at the scene of the shooting for illegal carrying of a firearm according to NOPD.

One of the suspects arrested was wounded in the shooting, the other was illegally carrying a weapon at the scene, but was not involved in the shooting according to police.

NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison said their were “30 or more” officers in the area as well as EMS when the shooting occurred.
