BATON ROUGE, La. — The 2018-2019 school year has arrived, and the Louisiana Department of Education has released a suite of free resources to help parents and educators ease the transition back to the classroom and support student learning. The resources align to the state’s academic goals for the next year and beyond.
- The 2018-2019 Educator Resource Guide, which highlights instructional priorities and resources to support educators with the start of the 2018-2019 school year. The guide is located in the School System, Principal and Teacher Toolboxes and will be updated each month.
- An updated 2018-2019 School System Support Calendar, which details in-person training sessions, virtual support, tools and resources, and communication streams designed to support educators.
- A customizable Back-to-School Night Presentation that school leaders can use to provide parents with information on 2018-2019 academic goals, standards, and assessments that help to meet parent engagement requirements required by the federal Every Student Succeeds Act.
- Parent Back-to-School Guides that provides families with information and resources to support learning at home for the 2018-2019 school year. Guides are currently available for parents of students in grades 3-12, English learners, and students with disabilities, and translated versions are available in Spanish, Vietnamese and Arabic. A guide for parents of students in grades PK-2 will be released later this month.
