UPDATE, 2 p.m.: Opelousas Police confirmed that after questioning students and staff and a search of campus, no weapon was found at the school. The matter remains under investigation by Opelousas Police and St. Landry Parish administrators.
ORIGINAL POST: OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) — Police are investigating Opelousas Jr. High’s campus after rumors of a student with firearm surfaced.
Opelousas Police Chief Martin McLendon said no weapon has been found.
Police are investigating as a precaution, the chief said. The school is not on lock down.
