Saturday, April 13th, several agencies have partnered to put on the first annual Law Enforcement and Community Family fun day.
This event was created by the City Marshal’s Office, Police Department, Opelousas Mayor Alsandor and local ministries.
It is aimed to educate the youth, bridge the gap between the community and law enforcement, and pray for all of the crime taking place.
Pastor Easton Shelvin of Truth is Ministry believe building trust and love begins with providing a united front. ‘It’s so timely for what’s going on in our communities. Just to be a bridge of joy. We see so much bad stuff going on and that’s typically the only time when people come together,” said Shelvin.
This is a free event with food, music, fun jumps, a car show, battle of the Dj’s and more. the event is taking place at North City Park in Opelousas.
