Roads all across New Iberia were flooded after heavy rains. Parts of Estis Road were particularly hit.
Some residents believe new construction has caused the congestion of water in that area.
“Since they’ve built the service road, they’ve created a bottle-neck in the drainage where the canals- the main canals that drain this area- build up,” says William Viator.
But despite the reason behind the water, residents say they’re used to flooded streets.
One store even stayed open even though flood waters blocking the entrance to their building.
“It’s a little rough driving through, but we usually waddle through it,” said Goodbuy’s manager Evelyn Creekmore.
