Investigators with the Morgan City Police Department Detectives Division are investigating an alleged kidnapping that happened before dawn Tuesday.
According to police, while investigating the kidnapping incident additional patrol officers and investigators responded to the area of Laurel St. in regards to gunshots being fired.
On the scene, police say they got information that a black male was seen fleeing the area.
After receiving a brief description, investigators encountered the subject in the area of Franklin Street and police say that’s when he fled from investigators and a foot chase ensued.
A short while later, Trajuan Pitts was apprehended after multiple Morgan City Police officers and detectives, on and off duty, gave chase.
During the course of the investigation, it was learned that Pitts was approached by a black male subject who began to fire multiple shots.
Pitts and Davonte Williams allegedly encountered the victim when they committed a battery on them and placed them in a trunk of a vehicle.
The individual was transported to the Franklin area where they escaped capture and fled the area.
The subject was later discovered by the Franklin Police Department and transported to Franklin Foundation for medical treatment.
Following an investigation, evidence was uncovered linking Pitts and Williams to the kidnapping portion of the investigation.
Pitts was booked into the Morgan City Jail. Williams is being sought.
Two area schools were placed on a lockdown status as a precautionary measure to assure the safety of children and staff.
