As always royalty reigns over this year‘s festival. The 2019 crawfish royalty included a king Merrick Stelly and queen Madison Frederick.
Madison Frederick, a senior at Teurlings, will reign as the 2019 Crawfish Queen at this year’s Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival.
“I will be going all over Louisiana with other queens from different festivals and having fun with them, and getting people to want to come to the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival,” said Frederick.
Frederick has been involved with the festival since she was young, reigning as the 2005 Little Miss Pincher and a 2014 Ecrevisse.
“Going through that and seeing the queen like what I am right now it really inspired me to want to be like them and carry on their responsibilities,” she said.
This year she is joined by her junior royalty. Little Miss pincher Ellie, Master Pincher Owen, and Jr. Crawfish Queen Anna. Frederick says it’s important to keep the younger kids excited about the festival. “It’s important so they can be like me and want to one day become the queen and promote the festival. It’s important to keep the tradition of our festival alive.”
