Man with multiple active warrants arrested by deputies during traffic stop

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)– A man is behind bars today, after deputies, conduct a traffic stop of a man with multiple warrants.

Authorities say, on Thursday, April 28, 2016, Devin Lawrence was observed traveling as a passenger in a Silver BMW at the intersection of University and Cameron Street.

It was known to Marshal’s that Devin Lawrence had multiple active warrants for his arrest.

Deputies with the Lafayette Marshal’s Office conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and Devin Lawrence was taken into custody without incident.

Devin Lawrence was booked on the following warrants: Bench Warrant 16-1264 No Seat Belt, Driving under suspension, Expired Inspection Sticker.  Bench Warrant C84409 Theft of goods No Bond Hold for St Martin Parish, Bench Warrant C84653 Theft of goods 2nd Offense No Bond Hold for St Martin Parish, Bench Warrant theft of goods 2nd Offense, Entry / Remaining after forbidden No Bond Hold for St Martin Parish, Original Warrant 179575 Theft $10,000.00 Bond (Total value amount stolen from Lowe’s $498.00 dollars)

An additional charge of theft was added to Devin Lawrence after he was observed on video with an accomplice stealing from Wal-Mart on April 28, 2016at approximately 8:00 a.m.

The total value in that theft was $403.00 dollars.  Devin Lawrence was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
