UPDATE, 7/21/21: Rayne Police report they have a suspect in custody regarding Saturday’s fatal shooting at King City Grocery.

Edward Dontreal Nickson, 26, of Rayne, has been charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of Johnathan Dixon. He was arrested Tuesday and remains in the Acadia Parish Jail on a $250,000 bond.

Rayne Police said the investigation remains open, and “more arrests are imminent.”

ORIGINAL POST, 7/18/21: RAYNE, La. (KLFY) — Rayne police are investigating a deadly shooting.

Police say 22-year-old Jonathan Dixon was shot to death around 11:50 p.m. Saturday.

Officers who responded to multiple shots at the King City Grocery Store on West Jeff Davis Avenue located Dixon dead from a gunshot wound.

Police say multiple arrests are expected, but those with information should contact police.
