During a council meeting Tuesday, Lafayette Utilities System announced that they will be adding wind power to their electric needs.
The addition will mean that more than 30% of their electricity will now be renewable energy.
Officials say the change will not affect customer rates.
LUS will begin using wind power at the beginning of 2019.
