The Lafayette Parish School System is considering 8 different school calendar proposals for the 2019-2020 school year.
School officials say that the options were developed with the intention of not extending the school year into what is now summer vacation and maximizing the number of instructional days the students have before testing.
Each of the proposals will reduce the number of vacation days for students but will keep a 10 day Christmas holiday.
The board will consider approval of a new calendar at its December 5 regular meeting.
