The proposed buyer for the Old Federal Courthouse in Downtown Lafayette has been put on hold. The city-parish council has a few questions for the buyer to answer.
LCG Councilman Kenneth Boudreaux says there a few unknowns as it relates to costs that LCG could incur.
The council is aware there will need to be some asbestos removal completed. The developer is to pay up to a certain point. Councilman boudreaux says LCG would have to pay the rest. “Council members were not in favor of that,” Boudreaux adds.
Council woman Nanette Cook agrees with Boudreaux that this is just the negotiation phase that has to take place. The deal is still on the table. “It just means we got 30 more days where we’re going to look at the contract a little closer,” Cook says.
