Update, Jan. 15: News 10 recently learned that Etienne, the man charged with second-degree murder on Stagecoach Rd., has an extensive criminal history.

In 2020, Etienne was arrested for three counts of first-degree murder and one count of a felon in possession of a firearm.

Etienne was at a motel when a fight broke out, which turned into Etienne shooting the victim in the upper torso. The victim survived, though Etienne was booked into the Lafayette Parish Jail.

In 2016, Etienne was charged by Lafayette Police as a fugitive, along with being arrested for resisting an officer in 2015.

Update, Jan. 13: Lafayette and St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s deputies have arrested Corey Etienne, 36, of Duson, in connection with Tuesday’s homicide on Stagecoach Road.

According to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, Etienne has been charged with second-degree murder.

Original, Jan. 11: LAFAYETTE PARISH, La. (KLFY) A woman was found dead Tuesday in Lafayette Parish.

Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Valerie Ponseti said deputies were dispatched to the 200 block of Stagecoach Road just after 1 p.m. in reference to an unresponsive female.

On scene, they discovered the body of Megan Goins, 30, the victim of an apparent gunshot wound, Ponseti said.

No suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made as of Wednesday afternoon.
