UPDATE: 12/8/2021 8:39 p.m. Lafayette, La. – Two intruders were shot and wounded during a home burglary Wednesday afternoon in Lafayette.

It happened around 12 noon in the 200 block of Wilkie Street.

Lafayette Police say one person was inside his residence when two people forced their way into his home.

The male victim got his own gun and shot the intruders, police said.

They were able to flee the area and seek medical attention for their injuries at a local hospital, police said.

A third person identified as 21-year-old Antonio McClelland has been arrested and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center for one count of principal to aggravated burglary and one count of conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Police said the investigation is on going and further arrests are expected.

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — Two people were injured after a weapon was discharged during a burglary on Wilkie St. in Lafayette, according to the Lafayette Police Department.

Officers were dispatched to a burglary in progress in the 200 block of Wilkie Street.

It happened around 12 noon.

Three people are in custody, according to police.
