LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating two deaths as a murder/suicide.

According to LPSO spokesperson, Valerie Ponseti, police are investigating a suspicious circumstances call on Monday about two deaths in the 200 block of N. Girouard Rd. Two people were found dead inside the residence when police arrived.

The investigation revealed that the female victim, Katherine Babineaux, 51 was shot and killed by her estranged husband, Eric Babineaux, 53, before he killed himself.

This investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
