UPDATE 1/24/2023 9:40 a.m.: Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim as Kouminique Marie Savoy, 38, of Lafayette. The Criminal Investigations Division arrested William Roger Broussard, 35, of Lafayette late yesterday evening and charged him with Second Degree Murder, Domestic Abuse Child Endangerment, Simple Criminal Damage to Property and Interfering with Emergency Communication.

ORIGINAL STORY: LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — The Lafayette Parish Sheriffs Office is investigating a death after a body was found Monday morning.

Early Monday morning, crime scene tape wrapped around the neighborhood of Prairie Lane as detectives looked for the cause of death of a female victim.

Captain John Mowell with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office says they suspect foul play is involved.

He says the name or age of the victim cannot be released just yet.

Residents watched in shock and disbelief.

Witnesses tell KLFY that for hours, the body of the female victim lay at the crime scene until the coroner’s office arrived.

Mowell did not release any information on if an arrest was made or if there is even a person of interest.
