LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – UPDATE, MAY 27, 3 p.m.: A father and son were arrested in connection to the shooting on Johnston St. last weekend that left one person injured, according to Lafayette Police.

Luis Alonso Pineda, 46, and Luis Justin Pineda, 21, were both arrested on active warrants related to the shooting. Luis A. Pineda had warrants for two counts of principle to attempted first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree battery, and two counts of simple battery. Luis J. Pineda had warrants for two counts of principle to attempted first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree battery.

Agents with the United States Marshall Sevice Violent Offender Task Force (USMS VOTF), along with the Lafayette Police Department, arrested the suspects.

They both surrendered and were taken into custody without incident. Both were booked into Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on the above-mentioned charges.

ORIGINAL, MAY 21, 3:11 p.m.: An early morning shooting on Johnston Street leaves one man in the hospital.

According to Lafayette Police, officers responded to the parking lot at 4416 Johnston Street just before 2 a.m. Saturday morning regarding a male suspect with a gun. When they arrived they found a male victim with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he remains in stable condition. 

Investigators believe that a disturbance occurred inside of the business and the two parties involved met again in the parking lot. While in the parking lot, one of the suspect’s began firing a pistol, hitting the victim twice. There were three other victims that were injured during the altercation. All three were treated for minor injuries and released. 

The suspects fled the scene. The shooting remains under investigation.
