UPDATE, 1/5/23 1:30 p.m.: According to the Lafayette Parish School System, Comeaux High School has transitioned to a shelter-in-place status while the campus resumes daily activities and students are served lunch. Visitors will not be able to enter or leave campus during this time.
UPDATE, 1/5/23, 12:21 p.m.: Students and faculty are returning to campus.
A resource officer was made aware of a student who threatened to blow up the school. Lafayette Police, Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office and University Police K-9 Unit assisted in the investigation. Roadways to campus were blocked during the investigation.
According to Lafayette Police, the K-9 unit searched the school and that parents will be notified by the school with information on how to pick up their children.
ORIGINAL, 1/5/23, 8:56 a.m.: LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Faculty and students of Comeaux High School have been evacuated due to threats made towards the school.
According to Lafayette Police, the call came in between 8:00 and 8:15 a.m. Thursday morning. Police are currently on the scene investigating the threats.
