Lafayette man who murdered girlfriend gets life in prison

A Lafayette man was sentenced to life in prison Tuesday following his conviction two weeks ago in the 2015 murder of his girlfriend.

The murder trial for 30 year old Miles Guidry began Monday May 7th and wrapped up about a week later on May 15th with Gudiry found guilty of 2nd degree murder. 

He was indicted 2 years ago in the death of 26 year old Claire Walley, a former UL Lafayette grad student.

Investigators found Walley’s body at their home on Lagneaux Road in Duson that the couple shared with their infant son.

Police apprehended Guidry asleep in his car in Colorado days after the murder.
