Lafayette Consolidated Government CAO Lowell Duhon moves swarm of bees to safety outside City Hall

A swarm of bees appeared in a tree outside Lafayette City Hall Wednesday morning.

Lafayette Consolidated Government Chief Administrative Officer and bee enthusiast Lowell Duhon traded in his office attire for a few hours, following the discovery, and donned a beekeeper’s suit to safely remove the swarm.

Research shows that during this time of year, bees are looking for a new home to reproduce or perhaps begin the search for a second home to set up a hive for themselves and the Queen bee.

City officials warned that if anyone finds a swarm of bees, not to approach, instead contact the Acadiana BeeKeepers Association  to arrange a safe removal.
