Two men are behind bars at the Jeff Davis parish jail after deputies say they did drugs in a hotel room in the presence of a four year old child.

When deputies arrived they found 63-year-old  Norbert Broussard, of Mittie, laying on the floor in the bathroom unconscious.

EMS first responders resuscitated Broussard. The sheriff’s office says, as he was being transported to the ambulance, Broussard reached into his pocket and removed a package containing marijuana.

Broussard was transported to the Jennings American Legion Hospital, assessed and released. Deputies arrested Broussard and charged him with Possession of CDS I marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, cruelty to juveniles and illegal use of CDS in presence of minors.

Another occupant of the room, 33-year-old Joshua Guidry of Jennings was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, cruelty to juveniles, and illegal use of CDS in presence of minor.

Guidry was staying in the room with his wife, and 4 year old son.  The 4 year old was in the motel room during the incident and observed Broussard unresponsive on the floor.

A consent to search was granted by Guidry, and deputies recovered a straw containing methamphetamine and two syringes in addition to the marijuana Broussard possessed.

Broussard and Guidry are held with no bond pending their initial court appearance.
