Jeanerette to flush entire water system over sediments and debris

The City of Jeanerette will be will begin flushing the water mains by opening fire hydrants and letting them flow, cleaning out sediment that has accumulated over time.

The work will be done between the hours of 9 pm to midnight Wednesday. 

The flushing is necessary to clear sediments and debris from our water system. city officials said. 

No interruptions in water service will occur as a result of the work.

Customers may experience a temporary drop in water pressure or draw some discolored water for a short period of time.

If this does occur, it is recommended that customers let their cold water run to clear before using it again and refrain from doing laundry during that time, officials said.
