A Jeanerette man won $100,000 from a Louisiana lottery scratch off ticket.
Matthew Richard bought the winning “$5, 20X The Money” scratch-off ticket at the Trading post convenience store at 16 Chitimacha Loop Rd, in Charenton, according to a statement from the Louisiana Lottery.
Officials say he won a free $10 scratch-off on the store’s last ticket at that price point. Since he couldn’t pick a free $10 ticket, he chose two $5 scratch-offs and won the top prize on one.
“Is this real?!” Richard thought after winning $100,000 over the Labor Day weekend playing $5 In the Money.
He plans to use his winnings to build a new home, according to the lottery.
The convenience will receive $1,000, or one percent of the prize, for selling the winning ticket, according to the lottery.
