“He’s no longer with our office”- Higgins aide out after pandering arrest


LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)- An aide for U.S. Congressman Clay Higgins is out, five days after he was arrested for pandering during an investigation into prostitution and sex trafficking in an around Lafayette. 

Jerod Prunty, 47, was arrested at his home on Feb. 19, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Authorities confirmed that Prunty’s arrest is connected to the numerous arrests made on February 13. Eight people were charged for their alleged involvement in prostitution and possible human trafficking at massage parlors in the Lafayette Parish area. 

“If you are planning any future coverage, please note that Congressman Higgins accepted Jerod’s resignation earlier this week. He is no longer with our office,” said Andrew David, communications director for Higgin’s office said via email. 

More arrest are expected as the LPSO continues its investigation.
