All of Acadiana is under a Flash Flood Watch from 6:00pm tonight to 6:00pm Saturday. Heavy showers and storms are expected to spread into Acadiana during the morning hours of Saturday. Approximate timing is between 5:00am to 1:00pm as the disturbance moves in from Texas. Most models have the heaviest rains reaching Lafayette around 9-10:00am. Most rain should be out of Acadiana by 2:00pm in the afternoon tomorrow.
Rainfall totals are estimated at 1″ to 3″ for the entire area with isolated higher amounts. Flash flooding is a concern, especially in poor drainage area. Also, there is a small threat for severe weather as the main line of storms moves through Acadiana. The “greatest” threat for any strong to severe storms is mainly across southern Acadiana and the coast.
