(ST. LANDRY PARISH) Two arrests have been made in a weekend fight that involved one person being shot and the other for use of a hand-held stun gun.

According to Sheriff Bobby Guidroz, two females were involved in a feud through“Instagram” and text messages since May 26, 2018.

Guidroz said the feud escalated to the two exchanging threats of a physical harm to one another and on May 27, 2018, one of the females who had been involved in the feud observed four black females exiting two vehicles parked in front of her house.

At that time, Guidroz said, a verbal altercation between one of the four girls and the victim quickly escalated into a fight.

During the fight, Guidroz said, the victim ended up being held down by Rona Hardy where Hardy used a hand-held stun gun on her several times.

After hearing the victim’s father being called, the group began leaving and then heard gunshots.

Witnesses observed the father, Richard Birotte pointing the firearm in their direction.

The girls entered the vehicle to leave the area then heard additional shots. One of the girls then immediately felt a pain in her lower back.

Richard Birotte was interviewed by detectives and said he did not mean to hurt anyone. Birotte stated he pointed the gun towards one of the girls and told her not to move when he saw the others leaving. He then discharged his weapon several times to make the females stop. Birotte claimed he was attempting to “Shoot out the tires.”

Detectives then interviewed Rona Hardy who admitted to using a stun gun during the fight against Birotte’s daughter.

Birotte is charged with attempted 2nd degree murder.  Hardy is accused of aggravated assault.
