A Eunice man has been arrested and charged with raping children.
34-year-old Travis Robinson is charged with three counts of second-degree rape.
The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office says the investigation started when one of the juvenile victim’s walked into the sheriff’s office building.
At that point, it became clear that molestation occurred.
“The 12-year-old victim and her mother came into the Sheriff’s Office to complain about a recent visit the child had with her pediatrician,” says St. Landry Sheriff Bobby Guidroz.
That visit resulted in the discovery that the 12-year-old had an STD.
At that point, the sheriff’s office got involved in the investigation.
“She admitted to us who did it, where it happened, and all the details basically,” Guidroz says.
News of Travis Robinson’s charge led to another juvenile coming forward….this one a 14-year-old. reporting a rape in January.
“The second girl knew that this guy needed to be caught because she was devastated by the action so she wanted to report it so she did the right thing,” Guidroz says.
Guidroz says it’s difficult for an adult to come forward after a rape let alone a child….and that there are certain precautions to take and check as a parent.
“Who they are communicating with on social media, who they are riding within a vehicle, they need to know all about those people they are associating with their children,” says Guidroz.
Robinson is being held at St. Landry Parish jail on $250,000 dollar bail.
