Enhanced police presence Thursday at New Iberia Senior High after social media threat

NEW IBERIA, La. (KLFY) – An enhanced police presence is expected at New Iberia Senior High School on Thursday after police and school officials were made aware of a threat on social media.

Major Wendell Raborn with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office says detectives will be out in full force beginning at 6:30 am Thursday.

“We will be at every entrance, and checking every student that comes onto campus and every backpack.” Raborn said.

A heavy police presence will also be stationed in the school’s parking lot and every vehicle that comes onto campus will be searched, Raborn said.

Out of  precaution, they are adding additional detectives at the school throughout the day.
