A Duson man trying to sell an Iphone to a man he met on Snapchat was shot twice in what police are calling an attempted homicide and robbery.

It happened in the early morning hours Wednesday when police say they were dispatched to a local hospital in reference to a gunshot victim.

Police say 19-year-old Trevis Thomas of Duson and his passenger, an 18-year-old male, also from Duson were attempting to sell an iPhone to someone they met on SnapChat and picked up the potential buyer then drove to the area of Alley 1 & 2 in Broussard.

According to police, the potential buyer got in the back seat of Thomas’ truck and while inside of the parked vehicle, a second man approached the side window brandishing an assault-style rifle.

Simultaneously the rear-passenger brandished a silver semi-automatic handgun where a struggle ensued and Thomas was shot once in the arm and once in the leg by the back-seat suspect, who then fled the scene, police said.

The 18-year old then drove Thomas to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries, police said.

Anyone with information about this incident should contact Broussard Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
