Deputies seize $850,000 in illegal drugs from shooting victim

SCOTT, La. (KLFY)- A Sept. 10 shooting led to the seizure of thousands of dollars worth of drugs on a victim who was found shot in Scott.

That morning, detectives with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office were called to the 300 block of Rue Septembre in Scott to the scene of a shooting.

Upon arrival, detectives learned the narcotics were in the victim’s possession, authorities said.

The victim, identified as Jermaine Savoy, was charged with possession with intent to distribute MDMA, synthetic marijuana, crack cocaine and promethazine/codeine, possession of drug paraphernalia, monies derived from drug proceeds, illegal carry of a firearm by a convicted felon, illegal possession of a frearm in the presence of controlled dangerous substances and controlled dangerous substances in the presence of a juvenile (seven counts).

A second suspect, Ushema Ryan, is charged with possession with intent to distribute MDMA, synthetic marijuana, crack cocaine and promethazine/codeine, possession of drug paraphernalia, monies derived from drug proceeds, illegal possession of a firearm in the presence of controlled dangerous substances and controlled dangerous Substances in the presence of a juvenile (seven counts).
