CROWLEY, La. (KLFY)- Two men have been charged after a bizarre incident involving an alleged home invasion and gunfire in Crowley.

Crowley Police have arrested Scott Paul Johnson, 25, after the shooting on Saturday, April 27, in the 100 block of Dorn Street.

Johnson was arrested at his residence without incident in the same location on Dorn Street in the early afternoon on Wednesday, April 30, Chief Jimmy Broussard said.

“In an interesting twist to this crime, the victim, Mr. Joseph Norris Romero, 52, of Rayne, has also been arrested in conjunction with the incident for home invasion,” Broussard said.

Initial reports indicated that  a woman in the home on Dorn was laying down when someone started forcefully beating on the front door.

The woman went to open the door at which time the “victim” forced his way into the residence.

“A scuffle ensued between Romero and the female, at which time the ‘suspect’, Johnson, came from behind the residence and began yelling at Romero to leave the female alone,” Broussard said.

The woman then tried to leave by car, but was stopped by Romero when he allegedly broke a window and got into the car.

Johnson allegedly grabbed  a weapon and began yelling at Romero to exit the vehicle, to which Romero refused.

“It was then that a gunshot was heard and Romero exited the vehicle,” Broussard said.

Romero is being charged with home invasion. Johnson is being charged with two counts of aggravated second degree battery and felon in possession of a firearm.

Romero was placed on a $10000 bond.

Johnson is under a $75,000 bond.
