Crowley Police respond to first homicide of 2018; Victim identified


UPDATE: Authorities have identified Heather Mouton, 37, as the victim of an early morning homicide in Acadia Parish.

Demetric Savoy, 38, has been arrested and charged with second degree murder, violation of protective order and unauthorized entry of a dwelling.

No bond has been set at this time.

ORIGINAL STORY: Officers in Crowley responded to their first Homicide of the year early this morning.

Chief Jimmy Broussard says the call came in at approximately 12:11 a.m. in the 1200 block of Lurose Drive.

Responding officers found a black female lying on the floor with blood around her head.

According to witnesses, a person of interest believed to be an ex-boyfriend was at the residence immediately prior to the shooting.

Chief Broussard says the victim has a temporary restraining order against this person of interest.

He was found a short time later and taken into custody, where he is being interviewed by detectives.

The victim was pronounced dead by the Acadia Parish Coroner’s Office and she was transported to the Calcasieu Forensics Laboratory in Lake Charles for autopsy. 

Her name is being withheld pending the notification of family.
