JENNINGS, La. (KLFY)- An early morning argument in the parking lot of the Walmart in Jennings led to the arrest of a husband on wife after deputies found drugs and stolen property in their vehicle.
Deputies were called to investigate a report that Stephen Howard, 37, a fugitive wanted in Calcasieu Parish, was in his vehicle in the parking lot at about 3 a.m. Thursday morning.
Howard told authorities that he was arguing with his wife. Howard gave a false name to deputies, but he was later identified by a Jennings Police officer who arrived to back up units.
Howard denied deputies access to search the vehicle.
A drug-sniffing K-9 was brought to the scene and alerted deputies of drugs.
A small bag under the passenger seat that contained methamphetamine, two syringes, a spoon and a light brown substance believed to be heroin.
Deputies also found a black case containing burglary tools.
Both Howard and his wife Crystal Howard , 27, denied ownership of the drugs, and claimed the burglary tools belonged to their 7-year-old son.
Both suspected were booked in for possession of CDS I & II, LSA 14:1023 possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of burglary tools.
