Lafayette Police School Resource Officers helped prevent a possible incident after arresting a student who had a gun and what officers say was a large amount of ammunition on campus.
Lafayette Police sources say the Comeaux School Resource Officers were notified about a potential threat at the high school.
The resource officers were able to recover the gun and ammunition.
17-year-old Cole Ransonet was booked and charged with firearm possession in a firearm free zone.
The Police Association of Lafayette Local #905 reacted in a Facebook post saying,
“The City of Lafayette can be assured the men and women of the Lafayette Police Department will continue to keep our children safe as they go about receiving their education as we all work toward a safer, better community. #backtheblue”
