Closures due to Thursday’s severe weather threat

UPDATE: All state offices are closed Thursday.

All Catholic schools in the Diocese of Lafayette will be closed Thursday, with two exceptions: Teurlings High School in Lafayette and St. Bernard School in Breaux Bridge.

According to Diocese Spokesperson Blue Rolfes, students at these two schools will present their Passion Plays to their fellow students, faculty and parents, and will then be dismissed at 10:30 a.m. (Thursday). 

All Evangeline Parish public schools will be closed Thursday, however, all principals, custodians, supervisory staff, maintenance personnel and central office secretaries are asked to report to campus in the morning. 

All public schools in Jeff Davis Parish will be closed Thursday.  

All five locations of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Acadiana will be closed due to a severe weather threat in the area.

The following schools announced closures due to the possibility of severe weather on Thursday:

  • St. Thomas More
  • Our Lady of Fatima
  • Cathedral Carmel
  • St. Pius Elementary
  • St Mary Early Learning Center
  • EJ Sam Accelerated School
  • Lafayette Christian Academy 
  • St. Cecilia in Broussard 
  • New Beginning Christian Academy 
  • Epiphany Day School (New Iberia)
  • Sts. Leo-Seton (Lafayette) 
  • Bethel Christian School in Jennings will dismiss at noon

  • Our Lady Immaculate School in Jennings will close at 11:30 a.m. Thursday

  • Owens Developmental Learning Center will be closed Thursday  

  • Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School will be closed Thursday   

  • Rayne Catholic will be closed Thursday
