YOUNGSVILLE, La. (KLFY)- A 61-year-old Lafayette man died Wednesday morning inside a warehouse in Youngsville, authorities said.

Fire Chief Blair Rivette said the fire started just before 10 a.m. in the 200 block of Brahman Drive.

First responders enroute were notified that one person was still inside the building, Rivette said.

On arrival, fire crews from the Youngsville, Broussard, and Milton areas entered the building and found the male in a corner who was unable to escape the blaze, Rivette said.

He has been identified as Darrel Francis.

His family told News 10 that he was a contractor working inside the facility.

The fire, which was extinguished at about 10:30 a.m., remains under investigation by the Lafayette Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

The cause is unknown, Rivette said.
