Broussard Police Department investigating deadly shooting at an apartment complex, victim ID’d

UPDATE:  According to Chief Decou, two of three persons of interest detained have been arrested on charges unrelated to the murder.

Broussard Police Chief Brannan Decou said the investigation began at about 2 a.m. at the Pines Apartments on at 219 Leon Street.

“Initial information relayed by dispatch was that there was a black male with a handgun possibly beating on someone and then it was reported that shots were fired,” the department said.

Upon arrival, officers entered the apartment and discovered the body of 24-year-old Leon Williams Jr. of Duson dead from apparent gunshot wounds. 

Simultaneously, additional officers established a perimeter and deployed a K9 resource which ultimately led to the detention of three persons of interest.

Investigators are still conducting interviews today.  A vehicle was seen leaving the area around the same time so investigators are asking if anyone has any information on this vehicle pictured to please call the Broussard Police Department.
