The Better Business Bureau of Acadiana is warning consumers to be cautious of doing business with an online furniture company.
The online furniture company called Rough Country Rustic Furniture is a Missouri based manufacturer selling hand crafted gun concealment and rustic furniture.
Jenn Love, BBB Serving Acadiana Business Administration Manager says, “The BBB is warning consumers about a company called a rough country rustic furniture– it’s actually based out of Missouri. They sell hand crafted gun concealments and rustic furniture as well.”
Rough Country Rustic Furniture is an online furniture company that currently has 800 open complaints right now as well as $400,000 worth of undelivered furniture.
Love says, “Most of these complaints that we receive are saying that hey we’re not getting our orders. They’re waiting eight months to a year to even contact these consumers as well and if the orders are delivered it’s damaged.”
There is no phone number on the company’s website and all customer service is handled through email. Consumers are complaining they’re being ignored for months.
Rebecca Phoenix, an investigator with the BBB Serving E. Missouri & Illinois, says social media plays a big part in the company getting attention.
Phoenix says, “Their website is out there and that’s where you can order from. They have about two million Facebook followers and a lot of people share information about the company that way.”
The BBB offers advice to look out for when trying to buy from online companies:
– Start with trust
– Research the business
– Read all terms and conditions
– Pay by credit card
– File complaints with the BBB and FTC.
