LAKE CHARLES, La. (KLFY) – Authorities say at least 400 people were rescued from flooding from heavy rains from Tropical Storm Harvey in Calcasieu Parish late Monday night and early Tuesday morning.
Gov. John Bel Edwards estimates that the number of people rescued was approximately 500 people.
Kim Myers, a spokesperson for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, said those rescued are now in shelters or are staying with family.
Edwards says about 200 of them spent the night in area shelters.
